Cobra Starship frontman proposes to designer Erin Fetherston
Love is in the air for rocker Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship and his lady, designer Erin Fetherston. The New York Post reports Saporta, 33, proposed to Fetherston earlier this year, and the two are now planning a spring wedding. News of the proposal came out when Fetherston was asked why she didn't have a runway show during New York Fashion Week.
Fetherston admitted to the Post that she was too busy planning a wedding to work on new looks.
"I'm getting married this spring, so I wanted to balance my energy between Fashion Week and planning," the designer told the news source.
Now that the news is out there, the couple has been happy to open up about the engagement and the details of the ring. Saporta told People magazine he popped the question in Barbados on New Year's Eve.
"I woke up at dawn to go collect coral and flowers from the beach next to our cottage. I used them to write out my proposal on our patio and then I woke Erin up in a frenzy to come see a 'monkey' that had appeared in our backyard," Saporta told the publication regarding his sneaky idea. "My sleepy-eyed bride quickly realized the only monkey that morning was me… and of course, she said, 'Yes!'"
Despite her shocking proposal, Fetherston reports she and Saporta had begun talking about getting married last fall, so she had an idea a ring might be coming. However, the details of the ring were all designed by Saporta alongside famed jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. According to People, Fetherston was gifted with a gorgeous emerald cut diamond ring in a pave basket on a pave band.
Fetherston loved the ring, telling People "It's luminous and romantic, with the right amount of edge."
Fans will have to wait to see her ring - Fetherston admitted to the Post that she can't wear it yet because it has to be sized. One thing's for certain, the couple, who have been dating since 2010, is going to have a fabulous wedding. Fetherston has even begun working on perhaps her most important design, her wedding dress.
It may be nice to dream about receiving a bauble like the one Fetherston was gifted with, but many people don't have the same funds to purchase such an exquisite ring. However, fans of the style can still embrace the look with affordable jewelry like the 4.66 TCW Emerald-Cut Cubic Zirconia Platinum Over Sterling Silver Eternity Ring for much less.
