First family shines spotlight on American designers at inauguration
Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama may be the first family of the United States, but for many fashionistas, they are also considered the first family of fashion. The stylish clan did not disappoint at President Obama's second inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C. recently. The female Obamas looked particularly stunning - dressed head to toe in American designers like J.Crew, Kate Spade and Thom Browne.
Michelle Obama wore a menswear-inspired navy silk coat, custom-made to resemble a men's tie, by Thom Browne. She accessorized the look with a sparkly rhinestone belt and dove gray pumps, both by J.Crew, though she later changed into knee-high boots for the outdoor portion of the event. Her eldest daughter, Malia, wore a fuchsia J.Crew wool jacket with on-trend oxblood tights and flats, while Sasha wore a lavender Kate Spade skirted coat with gray tights.
Of course, the Obama women were not without their gorgeous fashion jewelry. Both girls wore simple stud earrings, but Sasha accessorized her purple Kate Spade dress with a sparkling rhinestone statement necklace. It's unknown who made the first daughter's gemstone jewelry, but those who liked the look can copy it with a cubic zirconia statement necklace like the 26.23 TCW Round Cubic Zirconia Silvertone Eternity Necklace 16".
