As A-list celebrity after celebrity walked out on the red carpet of the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala Monday night, spectators couldn't help but notice many were glistening in gold. According to Us Weekly, Jessica Alba, Carey Mulligan and Nina Dobrev were a few of the stars decked out in gold gowns.

Alba stunned in a Michael Kors floor-length dress, which she paired with matching metallic earrings and bangles. The one-shoulder gown dazzled on the beautiful actress, who wore her brown hair in loose waves cascading down one side.

According to Access Hollywood, newlywed Mulligan was the co-chairwoman of the event, and she opted for an adorable liquid gold Prada cocktail dress, which was complete with metallic fish-scale beading. She matched the look with simple studded earrings.

Vampire Diaries star Dobrev made her first Gala appearance. She donned a black and gold silk chiffon Donna Karan Atelier dress with H. Stern earrings, Us reports.
