Marion Cotillard certainly shined on the red carpet of the 22nd annual Gotham Independent Film Awards. According to Entertainmentwise, the brunette beauty donned a stunning black Dior dress with an oversized collar and a kicked out silhouette. She matched the look with black heels and a dazzling diamond necklace.

Cotillard was honored at the event for her career thus far. Fans of the starlet can check her out in her new film Rust and Bone, where she plays a double amputee who lost her legs in a freak accident. According to USA Today, the one way she was able to leave that character on set was because she had a family to go home to.

"Because when I stop working, I'm not just with myself. People need me. It's a good thing. But still on set, I hope I was 100 percent with the story and my character and the director and the actors. I don't know exactly how to explain it," says Cotillard. "I just couldn't take care of only me. You do what you have to do."
